The aggressive foreign policy and attempts of “imperial revanche” of the Russian Federation of the recent years are based, first of all, on internal factors. One of them is the deep demographic crisis, which (for a variety of reasons) has no chance to be solved. In the article it has been argued that one of the causes of the hybrid aggression against Ukraine, and aggressive impact on the neighboring states – Belarus and Moldova – is the struggle for increase of resourses. It looks like a new “colonial conquest”, only in the Western direction this time, caused by a fast decrease of Russian population in Transurals.

The understanding of these reasons of the growing aggression of the Russian foreign policy is important for the future analysis in the long term perspective.
